last weekend

Last weekend we were at Shotts Salvation Army with our good friend Captain Tracey Godfrey who is the Corps Officer there. (see picture - Tracey's on the left!) We led a concert on the Sat pm which was basically us singing!! And yes, when I say us I mean all of us - including Kathryn who heckled all the way through - upstaged by a seven month old!!! Without being too crude, the evening was sponsered by Immodium Plus - that stuff is great! Not so great was the stomach bug that hung around for about a week with this weekend coming right in the middle of it. Still we pressed on and brought an evening of songs from stage and screen to the people of Shotts. Tried a few new things and it all seemed to go ok. Especially pleased with the song "Endless Night" from Lion King stage show. Used the footprints poem around and through it with images on screen - seemed to be very effective I think. If you don't know it, the words are:

Where has the starlight gone? Dark is the day. How can I find my way home?
Home is an empty dream, lost to the night. Why do I feel so alone?
You promised you'd be there whenever I needed you.
Whenever I call your name - You're not anywhere.
I'm trying to hold on, just waiting to hear your voice.
One word, just a word will do to end this nightmare.

When will the dawning break, Oh endless night. Sleepless I dream of the day
When you were by my side guiding my path. Father, I can't find the way.
You promised you'd be there whenever I needed you.
Whenever I call your name - You're not anywhere.
I'm trying to hold on, just waiting to hear your voice.
One word, just a word will do to end this nightmare

I know that the night must end, and that the sun will rise
I know that the clouds must clear, and that the sun will shine

I know, yes, I know the sun will rise.
Yes, I know, I know the clouds must clear
I know that the night must end. I know that the clouds must clear,
and I'll hear your voice deep inside.
I know that the night must end, and that the clouds must clear.
The sun, the sun will rise.
The sun, the sun will rise.

Cracking words which unmistakeably point to Jesus.

The Sunday meetings went well too and we both enjoyed the freedom in ministry that came from this leadership period. God led us both throughout our ministry and as we spoke on Gods Faithfulness and Gods Provision, we were all left in no doubt of His presence with us.

Will try to upload our sermons here at some point if you're interested!
