Prayer

Just found out some sad news but it doubles as an encouragement to get down and pray. Major Nicola Garnham was a tutor of ours during our time at the Salvation Army College in London. Her husband, Phil, was also a tutor. Both were a great encouraging presence around the college and doubled up in their work as Corps Officers of Camberwell Corps. They have since moved on to be Corps Officers at The Salvation Army's Raynes Park Community Church. However, I have just discovered through blog exploration that Nicola has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. It appears, from reading their blog that she also has secondaries in the abdomen, pelvis and liver. I have to say, whilst being saddened by this news, I have been incredibly encouraged by the posts on their blog including many by Nicky herself. She is undergoing Chemo at Charing Cross Hospital, London, and is taking part in a drug trial. Her passion and strength of spirit that we knew when she was a tutor, seem unaffected through this time of real trial. She is, by all accounts, being incredibly positive. So, please hold Nicky and Phil, together with their children, Rebekah, Abigail, Hannah and Sam, in your prayers. Check out their blog and send them a message of encouragement. I know some who read this blog will know the Garnham's very well so lets pray for God to work His power, in whatever way that may be, through this situation.
